[Guide] How to enable live mic output for Windows Vista

I am in no way a tech expert or tech blogger, but after several failed googling attempts in finding any solution to this, it's probably a good idea to have this out there for people that need it. Seeing as how I stumbled upon it and all. (Upon noticing how easy it was, several facepalms were deemed necessary and thus followed)

What exactly am I talking about?

This guide is for people who want to use their mics and immediately hear their voice through their speakers or headsets. Yes, that means you want it to act like some kind of mini-PA system or karaoke or some crap like that. This is done on my laptop with Windows Vista however(Realtek), it ~~might be~~ is different if you're using Windows 7 or desktop with a dedicated soundcard.

You don't need any software or anything to do this, don't worry.

Whenever you say something into your mic it's supposed to be immediately audible through your speakers, even without using any software, but windows mute it by default for obvious noisy reasons. So what you need to do is unmute it.

First, go to your control panel and open up Sounds, as seen below.

After the window is open, the tab you'll be viewing is the Playback tab. Right-click Speaker and open up properties.

Go ahead and click the Levels tab.

What you'll be seeing is pictured above. As you can see I've already unmuted the microphone, so do it yourself whenever you want to enable the live output thing. As soon as you unmute it, whatever you say will immediately come out of your speakers or headphones.

You might get a lot of feedback though, so lower your speaker volume first and adjust as necessary afterwards.

Click okay and your done. Simple as that.

Decided to try to draw something less manga-like just for the hell of it. So I drew my renegade FemShepard from Mass Effect 1.

Meet Senri "Made-a-grown-man-cry" Shepard.

You can't see it(obviously) but she has red hair. Oh, and the reason for the somewhat high contrast, shady face is because apparently they don't have enough ceiling lights in other planets or ships.

I'm pretty bad at this sort of drawing, leave comments/feedback/criticism if you want. Screenshots of your shepard are most welcome.

Update and Revamping

~~Currently revamping site.~~ Well, I've probably done most of the changes I wanted to make to the blog.

It's mostly just rearranging and stuff, but main difference is making different sections. Thank you blogger for finally letting me do this, you dumb piece of domestic refuse.

This particular one is so that I could probably blog or rant on something should I require it. But hey, this is me we're talking about, I might even get too lazy to actually start properly updating.

We'll see though.
